Easter Weekend

It seems the older Emma Cate gets, the less time I have to blog or do anything extra! And our internet has been out for almost a week so please forgive my absence. We have switched to cable tv and internet (from Dish and DSL) so hopefully the problem is solved!

We had a wonderful Easter weekend spending time with family. Emma Cate hasn't been feeling well, but still had a good time hunting eggs and playing with all the puppies at our house (my parents have 2 3 month old puppies and put them together with my two crazy dogs and we had quite a circus!) Here are a few photos from the weekend.

My sweet Dad cut our grass for us while Phil was at work Friday. Emma Cate is still a little unsure about the lawn mower. It's loud and she cried the first time she saw me on it.

Emma Cate was so excited to see the new puppies!

Nanny brought Emma Cate a new doll. We named her Jenny and Emma Cate refused to eat dinner without her!

Our Easter picture...Emma Cate and I had been up all night so don't look too closely at me!

She still looked like an angel despite feeling bad.

We had a little Easter egg hunt after lunch. We also had a community wide Easter egg hunt on Saturday. I took pictures on my other camera and have yet to look at them so hopefully I'll get to that later today and can post some more.

Emma Cate wasn't sure what to do with the eggs. She tried to eat them (they are plastic not hard boiled).

Then tried to feed them to the puppies (while sitting in her basket).

Then tried to feed them to me!

We've spent a lot of time doing yard work. I'm going to try to get outside today and take some pictures of all our hard work while the mulch is still fresh.

And to wrap up this post, our two precious pups! They love eachother so much and are so much fun. If only we didn't have to keep Jake on that rope...he escaped the house twice this weekend and immediately took off for the woods (he runs off and won't come when you call him and I'm too scared he'll go to the highway and get run over to just let him go). The first time it took me 30 minutes in the pouring rain to find him. We have ordered an electric fence system and are in the process of putting it in...hopefully that will work!

It was a great weekend! We are so thankful for the reason we celebrate Easter - that our Father sent His Son to die to save us from our sins so that we might have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I kept thinking throughout the weekend how we as a family could turn the focus of Easter for our children more to the real reason instead of just the traditions of making Easter cookies and hunting eggs. I've read some good ideas on other blogs, but if you have any good ones, feel free to share! She is still too young to really understand at this point, but next year maybe?
