First Phase of the Move

We just returned from a very busy, but wonderful week at our house. We took the week of vacation to start moving most of our furniture in and tackle the kitchen renovation project. Of course our to do list was unrealistically long, but we did get a lot accomplished and were thrilled with the results!

Here is a before and after of the kitchen after our makeover on a budget! It is the only room that is close to being finished. We ordered the countertops from Lowes and installed them ourselves with some help from a few friends. Of course it wasn't as easy as we thought...it only took 8 hours to cut the hole for the sink to fit just right (in our defense, there was only about 1/2 inch room for error). The island top is the one we built from the leftover hardwood from the floors. Most of the appliances were our Christmas presents this year from family and we installed the subway tile backsplash ourselves.

We were so proud of ourselves, especially for the tile backsplash. Phil also hung all the light fixtures with only one close call to being electrocuted!

More to come!
